13 Vietnamese women detained for suspected prostitution in Miri

MIRI, Dec 12: Suspected prostitution activities within a massage parlour at Jalan Merpati was exposed on Tuesday night, after a Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team raided the premises and detained 13 Vietnamese nationals.

The Vietnamese women, aged 21 to 33, were allegedly offering sex services to their customers.

It was believed that customers paid prices ranging from RM238 ‘per shot’ or RM730 if they stayed overnight with the foreign workers.

During the raid, police also seized various items including one box of tissues, three unused condoms, cash amounting to RM1,278 and a registration book.

The Miri CID team also apprehended a local man, 25, believed to be the caretaker of the parlour in the 11pm raid dubbed Ops Noda.

The male suspect has been remanded for four days until December 15, while the Vietnamese women are currently under police custody at Miri Central police station (CPS).

Magistrate Md Syafique Md Hilmie meted out the remand order on Wednesday. — DayakDaily
