13 Sarawak journalists among 300 media practitioners invited to dinner with Perak Sultan

KUALA KANGSAR, May 28: Thirteen media practitioners from Sarawak were privileged to be among journalists invited by Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah for a special dinner reception in conjunction with National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2023 at Istana Iskandariah last night.

The dinner was among the highlights of Hawana 2023 where some 300 media practitioners from Malaysia and other ASEAN countries had the opportunity to have dinner with His Royal Highness.


Guests were treated to an array of scrumptious dishes and were entertained with a live band performance.

His Majesty Sultan Nazrin Shah also consented to the media practitioners’ request for photo opportunities with His Majesty.

Also present were Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, his deputy Teo Ni Ching, Perak Menteri Besar Dato Seri Saarani Mohamad and Perak Communications, Multimedia and NGO Committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi.

Hawana 2023 is currently being held in Ipoh (May 27-29) to appreciate the contributions and services of media practitioners in the country’s development.

The theme ‘Media Bebas, Tunjang Demokrasi’ (Free Media, Pillar of Democracy) re-emphasise on issues of media freedom for journalists in carrying out their duties.

Various activities organised in conjunction with the event include a media forum involving journalists from ASEAN member countries, a mini carnival, a treasure hunt and a bowling competition.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to launch the celebration this afternoon. — DayakDaily
