Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that the arrested individuals, all local men, were apprehended across six states of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak, Johor, and Terengganu.

“Authorities also seized seven desktop computers, one laptop, 11 mobile phones, and 16 modems and routers from the suspects’ residences for further investigation,” he said in a statement today.

This operation was aimed at tracking down offenders involved in online sexual crimes against children, particularly on social media platforms.

It also sought to raise awareness among parents, the public, and platform providers about their responsibility to protect children and ensure their safety in the digital space.

All suspects will be remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Razarudin revealed that 13 investigation papers have been opened for possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) under the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017, as well as for possessing obscene materials under the Penal Code.

The police have called on the public, especially teenagers and children, to exercise caution and responsibility in their online interactions to avoid becoming victims of such crimes.

Razarudin reaffirmed the police’s unwavering commitment to taking strict action against those involved in criminal activities, particularly those targeting vulnerable children in Malaysia. — DayakDaily
