13 arrested for not adhering to SOPs

KUCHING, Oct 11: Thirteen people were arrested by the police yesterday for violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) period.

This included a local man in Sibu who was nabbed for alleging hitting a security guard when confronted at the Sibu Central Market.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) which disclosed this in a press statement revealed the police also arrested 12 other individuals who were Indonesians. Comprising six males and six females, they were apprehended at an entertainment centre in Niah, Miri for not observing physical distancing.

The police also issued 53 compound notices to those who violated the SOPs, with 46 notices issued in Kuching, Miri (5), Samarahan (1) and Betong (1).

SDMC revealed the Ministry for Local Government and Housing issued 65 written and verbal warnings for non-adherence to SOPs.

These include warnings issued by the Sibu Municipal Council (26), Bintulu Development Authority (15), Kuching South City Council or MBKS (11), Kuching North City Hall or DBKU (8) and Serian Municipal Council (5). ā€” DayakDaily
