MIRI, Oct 28: A Miri Criminal Investigations Department (CID) team on Sunday afternoon broke up a cockfight and apprehended 13 men including one Filipino in Kampung Lusut, Taman Tunku.
Acting on a tip-off, the CID team busted the cockfight around 3.25pm.
According to sources, the suspects attempted to flee the scene upon realising the police team was approaching the area
However, their escape attempt was foiled by the police’s swift action.
Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted today confirmed the raid.
“The men are aged 34 to 67 and are currently detained at Miri central police station (CPS) for further investigation,” he said.
Also seized during the raid was cockfighting paraphernalia.
The case is being investigated under Section 3(1) the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance 1962. — DayakDaily
