SERIAN, March 12: Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil is satisfied with the overall progress of the projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) in the Bidayuh area in Siburan.
Except for the problematic multi purpose hall in Kpg Sentah, which he said needs serious attention, the other 11 projects have either been completed or progressing well.
According to Dr Jerip, 12 projects under RTP costing about RM2.7 million have been approved from 2018 till this year for the Bidayuh community in Siburan.
Among the projects are upgrading of Kpg Masaan community hall at RM150,000 and RM300,000 upgrading of drainage system along the road at the village, which have been completed.
Among other RTP projects are the upgrading of water system in Kpg Seratau costing about RM300,000 and the upgrading of parking lots in the village, which have also been completed, he added.
“I am satisfied with the overall progress of the projects for the Bidayuh community in Siburan area, except for the RM200,000 multi-purpose hall project in Kpg Sentah,” Dr Jerip, who is Mambong assemblyman, said during his walkabout yesterday evening.
Dr Jerip also said that an allocation of RM5 million had been approved to improve the road to Kpg Sentah and still under technical study by Public Works Department (JKR) Serian.
He added that the community hall for Kpg Prutan at a cost of RM300,000 had also been approved.
During the walkabout, Dr Jerip also presented RM88,000 for minor rural project (MRP) to organisations, chapels and Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) at several villages in Siburan.
Among the recipients are parents teachers association (PTA) of SK St Francis Xavier, which received RM30,000; JKKK Kpg Sentah (RM20,000); JKKK and St Paul Chapel Kpg Prutan, receiving RM5,000 and RM10,000 respectively.
Other recipients are St Gérard Chapel Kpg Sentah (RM10,000); JKKK Kpg Masaan (RM3,000) and Kpg Seratau Women Bureau (RM10,000).
He urged the recipients to spend the grant for meaningful purposes to achieve its real objective. — DayakDaily
