KUCHING, Aug 16: Twelve employees of a financial institution in Bintulu tested positive for Covid-19, giving rise to a new cluster dubbed the Jalan Airport Lama Cluster.
According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), a total of 31 individuals have been swabbed so far with 12 people including the index case testing positive while the rest are awaiting lab test results.
SDMC added that Covid-19 patients have been sent to health facilities in Bintulu for treatment.
Meanwhile, the Jalan Airport Lama Cluster in Bintulu is one of five new clusters announced in Sarawak today.
The other four new clusters are the Kampung Goebilt Cluster in Kuching, Lorong Temenggung Haji Gobil Cluster in Kuching, Kampung Kakeng Cluster in Serian and Kampung Bunga Cluster in Serian.
Meanwhile, the Jalan Jambusan 2 Cluster in Bau was declared ended after zero cases of Covid-19 were reported in the past 28 days.
There remains 107 active clusters in Sarawak out of which 19 reported 312 new cases today. — DayakDaily
