12 compounds issued for SOP violations throughout Sarawak

KUCHING, May 5: The police have issued 12 compounds for violations of standard operating procedures (SOP) in the past 24 hours.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update report on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, disclosed that of the 12 compounds, four were issued in Kuching, three each in Padawan and Sibu and one each in Bintulu and Miri.

“Three compounds were issued for eating in food outlets prohibited during CMCO (Conditional Movement Control Order), three for not wearing face masks, two for not checking in with MySejahtera, two for not preparing sanitisers, one for failure to limit number of customers into a premises and one for loitering outside during CMCO period,” the statement said.


The total number of compounds issued since March 18 has increased to 6,209.

Meanwhile, SDMC also informed that the Ministry of Local Government and Housing had also issued 10 compounds under the jurisdictions of Dalat and Mukah District Council (7) and one each from Serian District Council, Kanowit District Council and Sibu Municipal Council for various violations of the SOP.

The violations included failure to check-in using the MySejahtera app, failure to update log books (3), operating beyond permitted hours (1), failure to observe physical distancing (1), failure to put on face masks (1) and did not provide entry log book (1).

As such, the total number of compounds issued by local governments since Feb 1 has increased to 180. — DayakDaily
