11 Covid-19 cases in critical condition as Sarawak’s daily caseload declines to 587

KUCHING, Oct 23: Eleven new Covid-19 cases were reported to be in critical condition today as Sarawak recorded a slight decline in the number of daily infections with total of 587 cases.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said that out of the 11 cases, two of the cases were categorised under Category 2 with pneumonia, five cases under Category 4 who need oxygen supply, and four cases under Category 5 where the patients required ventilator support to breathe.

The remaining 576 cases were categorised as Category 1 cases (166) with no symptoms and Category 2 cases (410) with mild symptoms.


Meanwhile, SDMC said Kuching recorded the highest number of cases in the state with a total of 156 cases, followed by Miri with 120 cases, Sibu (84), Bintulu (32), Limbang (32), Sarikei (17), Serian (16), Samarahan (14), and Betong (10).

Other districts that reported new cases are Simunjan (9), Dalat (9), Tanjung Manis (8), Meradong (8), Mukah (7), Subis (7), Kapit (6), Bau (5), Pusa (5), Kanowit (5), Saratok (4), Lundu (4), Kabong (4), Telang Usan (4), Beluru (4), Julau (3), Sri Aman (3), Bukit Mabong (3), Marudi (2), Matu (2), and one case each for Song, Asajaya, Pakan, and Sebauh.

Seven other districts, namely Lawas, Belaga, Tebedu, Selangau, Daro, Tatau, and Lubok Antu did not record any new cases today.

A total of 15 fatalities were reported today, bringing the death toll in Sarawak to 1,194. — DayakDaily
