1,009 new Covid-19 cases and six deaths recorded nationwide in the last 24-hours

KUCHING, Nov 5: Malaysia recorded 1,009 new Covid-19 cases and six deaths in the last 24-hours.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a press conference today said the new 1,009 cases brings the total number of infections in the country to 36,434; while the total number of fatalities are now at 277.

“Of the 1,009 new cases, 1,000 were local transmission and the remaining nine were import cases.

“Sabah recorded the highest number of cases with 564. The rest of the breakdowns are Selangor (180), Labuan (95), Negeri Sembilan (90), Penang (36), and Kuala Lumpur (18), Kedah (7), Sarawak (6), Perak (6), Melaka (5), Johor (2) and Putrajaya (1).

“Currently, we have 10,503 active cases, with 78 in intensive care unit including 28 that requires respiratory assistance,” Dr Noor Hisham added.

The country also reported 839 recoveries today, bringing the total number of those discharged to 25,654.

On the six death cases, Dr Noor Hisham said four were Malaysian and two foreigners.

Five deaths were reported were in Sabah, and the other fatality was reported in Selangor.

The victims in Sabah were aged between 54 and 92, while one death reported in Selayang involved a 61-year-old man. — DayakDaily
