10 students, parents safely escorted after flood cuts off Jln Ulu Pedai, Kanowit

KANOWIT, Dec 20: A group of ten students and their parents have been safely escorted after being stranded this morning due to rising floodwaters severing access along Jalan Ulu Pedai, Kanowit.

According to the Kanowit Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), the alert was received at 9.14am. A team led by PBK II Yusof Morni arrived at the site, located 40km from the station, arrived at 9.57am.

Upon assessment, the floodwaters have risen to four feet, submerging a 300-foot stretch of the road.

The team, comprising three firefighter personnel and three police officers from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), acted swiftly to assist the affected individuals.

Everyone is equipped with PFDs to ensure a safe journey across the flooded along Jalan Ulu Pedai, Kanowit, on Dec 20, 2024.

Equipped with personal floating devices (PFDs), they escorted the group safely across the submerged section.

The operation concluded at 11.10am with all individuals safely returning home. — DayakDaily
