KUCHING, Jan 12: Seven women and three men suffered minor injuries after their four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle plunged into a 15-feet deep ravine along Jalan Puncak Borneo, today.
State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement disclosed they received a call from the police at 1.30pm requesting for assistance to extract the remaining four victims from the ravine.
“It was believed that the 4WD plunged into the ravine after the driver lose control. The operations commander arriving at the scene found that the remaining four victims managed to escape from the vehicle by themselves,” the statement revealed.
Firefighters later rescued the four victims who were still in the ravine by using a stretcher and a safety line to pull them out.
One of the victims was brought to a hospital by a Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) unit for further treatment while the others only suffered minor injuries.
The operation was conducted by seven firefighters from Bomba Siburan led by PBKII Valentine Samy, together with the police and medical department personnel. — DayakDaily
