10 from govt agency’s quarters in Bintulu test positive for Covid-19 triggering Jln Pisang Raja Cluster

KUCHING, Aug 9: Some 10 people from a staff quarters of a government agency in Bintulu were tested positive for Covid-19, triggering a new cluster known as the Jalan Pisang Raja Cluster.

According to a report from Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the Jalan Pisang Raja Cluster is a workplace cluster located at Jalan Pisang Raja, off Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi in Bintulu.


At present, a total of 63 people from the cluster have been swabbed out of which 10 people were tested positive and the balance of 53 people are awaiting the results of their Covid-19 swab tests.

SDMC added that Covid-19 patients from the cluster have been admitted to health facilities in Bintulu for further treatment.

The Jalan Pisang Raja Cluster is one of the four new clusters of Covid-19 identified in Sarawak.

The other three new clusters are the Taman Yen Yen Cluster, Crown Mas Cluster and Lorong Teruntum Cluster all in Kuching.

On the other hand, the Jalan Setia Raja Cluster in Kuching and Jalan Kidurong Lima Cluster in Bintulu ended after zero cases of Covid-19 were reported in the past 28 days.

Nonetheless, there are still 91 active clusters of Covid-19 in Sarawak, out of which 14 active clusters registered 121 new cases of coronavirus. — DayakDaily
