KUCHING, Sept 2: The body of a 40-year-old man was found inside the bedroom of a unit in a flat in Batu Gong that caught fire today.
According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre today, firefighters from Bomba Batu Lintang were rushed to the location after receiving a call regarding the incident at 11.02am.
The unit’s bedroom was destroyed due to an explosion that damaged 80 per cent of the unit.
Two other victims, women aged 37 and 16, suffered shortness of breath and minor injuries, respectively, and were given medical treatment by the Bomba Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS).
Firefighters then put out the flame, followed by an overhaul to ensure no source of reignition.
The deceased’s body was later handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
