KUCHING, Oct 9: Zoro by Domus Group, will be opening at Hock Seng Lee (HSL)’s La Promenade Mall starting Oct 22, serving exciting Western and Asian cuisines with an emphasis on high-quality ingredients.
Operating from 9.30am to 9.30pm daily, Group founder and managing director Nathan Ngu said the restaurant will only serve dine-ins and take-aways for the first few months while food deliveries will be added next year.
This will be the Group’s third restaurant in Kuching after its original outlet Mr Domus at Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho, and co-owned Trevi at Saradise.
During the day, Zoro will serve mostly Western favourites, offering a menu similar to Mr Domus and Trevi.
“We’re taking the best from our two establishments and refining them further at the new La Promenade Mall restaurant. From evening or Happy Hour onwards, we’ll serve more Asian-inspired food. This will be unique to Zoro.
“There will be more lounge type, tapas style offerings besides a wide selection of high-quality wines and cocktails,” said Ngu, assuring that a full menu will be available on Zoro’s social media platforms soon.
He said Zoro will also feature a retail section selling imported goods like olive and truffle oils, pastas and nuts.
Occupying the largest space spanning some 3,000 sq ft on a corner lot of La Promenade Mall’s ground floor eateries section, Zoro’s entry will be facing the tree-lined Jalan La Promenade and a new park that has just begun construction.
Also a Sarawakian brand, Zoro’s opening is in line with HSL’s policy to support local businesses including the existing Black Bean Coffee & Tea and Noms Malaysia at the mall.
La Promenade Mall senior leasing manager Trish Lui said Zoro will be Domus Group’s largest and most important outlet, which explains the mall’s close collaboration with Zoro before its official opening this month.
“Ngu worked closely with us on the space planning, ensuring this outlet has a kitchen big enough to have a bakery, hot food stations and dessert workshop,” she said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, IDC Architects managing director Tina Lau said Zoro’s interior including layout, design and finishing were all done from scratch by her team.
“Ngu gave us his brief and we collaborated closely on all aspects. Zoro’s design is unlike any other we have done in Kuching. All major components were customised like counters, window facades and the entrance statement.
“We’re very proud of Zoro at IDC. Ngu’s given as much emphasis on the ambience as he has given the taste of food. Prior to working together, many of us at IDC were already frequent diners at Mr Domus.
“We love their breakfast and brunch selections,” said Lau.
La Promenade Mall is the first commercial development at HSL’s 200-acre flagship estate. The gated community comprises landed-only luxury homes priced between RM1 and RM3.8 million.
The mall opened in Jan 2021 together with HSL Tower. Its anchor tenants include Choice Supermarket and Sweat Factory.
Uniquely, level four comprises office suites and a 10,000 sqft community space run by six non-governmental bodies, providing free counselling, tuition classes and crafts workshops for those with special needs.
