MIRI, April 23: A man in his late 20s browsed the web on Sunday (April 21) looking for a female sex companion but ended up losing more than RM1,000 — and received nothing for it.
Sources said that when he chanced upon an online chat, he contacted the portal’s admin via its messaging platform, and that was when his nightmare began.
He was asked to make multiple money transfers to the portal’s admin, and the money was purportedly for service charge, payment to a middleman, and for the female sex worker’s bodyguard.
The total amount of money transferred was more than RM1,000.
It was believed that the victim started regretting his misadventure when he was asked for the second payment, but he made the transfer anyway because the portal’s admin threatened to expose his personal details on social media.
However, even though he did all that he was told to do, he became worried about his safety and decided to go to the Miri Central Police Station to lodge a report. — DayakDaily
