KUCHING, Dec 27: An 18-year-old motorcyclist died after being pinned under a car in a crash in Jalan Datuk Stephen Yong here this morning.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the deceased was identified as Steven Nanam from Kampung Simpok, Jalan Padawan.
“In the 8.10am incident, the young motorcyclist was alleged to have suddenly swerved into the opposite lane with incoming traffic and struck the sedan vehicle travelling straight from Jalan Datuk Stephen Yong towards Kampung Semeba.
“Due to the impact, the deceased was pinned under the car and sustained serious injuries on the head and body,” he added.
The sedan car’s driver was unharmed.
The victims was pronounced dead on the scene by medical officers from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
Police have collected information around the accident site including photographs and diagram of scene. All vehicles involved in the accident were taken to Padawan District Police Headquarter for further action.
The case is investigate under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.— DayakDaily
