You have made a blunder, ex-Stampin MP told

Chen Tzeum Ling

KUCHING, Jan 21: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Batu Kawah Youth today told former Stampin MP Julian Tan that the Land and Survey Department is not under the Ministry of Local Government and Housing.

Its Youth leader, Chen Tzeum Ling, said Tan was “ignorant” and had failed to do his homework before opening his mouth recently.

“It seems that the former Stampin MP Tan Kok Ping is not only ignorant but also did not do his homework when he claimed that the Land and Survey Department is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Local Government and Housing.

“The Land and Survey Department is, in fact, under the jurisdiction of the Sarawak Ministry of Natural Resources (the Minister is Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan). It is shameful for the former MP to have made such a damning claim,” said Chen in a statement today.

Chen claimed that Tan had the tendency to create cheap political propaganda to mislead the public and for cheap publicity.

He added that he was not expecting Tan to apologise as it was not in DAP’s culture to apologise for their missteps.

“They always blame others for their mistakes. One of the examples is when Works Minister Baru Bian denied the claim by (Stampin MP) Chong Chieng Jen that the funds allocated for grass-cutting along federal roads had been used up by the contractor.

“Nevertheless, Chong kept silent over his wrong allegation. The cheap and erroneous propaganda carried out by Chong and Tan is not uncommon. They are meant to mislead the public,” Chen asserted.

He advised Tan to stop hurling baseless accusations.

“We call on Tan Kok Ping, as a respectful former MP, who is enjoying the remuneration and pension from taxes paid by the people, if he has any respect for political ethics and human conscience, to stop henceforth from making further erroneous allegations,” said Chen. — DayakDaily
