KUCHING, Dec 5: Yoga Region, a local yoga studio, has hosted a series of charity yoga classes, raising RM5,072 for the Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA).
The initiative, held over the past 11 weeks, was part of the studio’s 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Programme, where 11 aspiring instructors combined community service with their certification process.
The trainees, who are passionate animal lovers, chose to dedicate their efforts to supporting SSPCA, recognising the importance of protecting and caring for vulnerable animals in the community.
“Animals can’t speak for themselves. So the only way is for us animal lovers to help them,” said yoga instructor Alvin Heng.
The charity yoga classes, held on weekends, welcomed participants from all walks of life.
The funds raised will support SSPCA’s ongoing efforts to provide food, shelter, and medical care for stray and abandoned animals in Sarawak.
Yoga Region and its trainees expressed their gratitude to everyone who participated in the classes and supported the cause.
Through the collective efforts, they have made a tangible difference in the lives of animals and the community.
SSPCA President Datin Dona Drury-Wee extended her thanks to the teachers for their heartwarming act of charity.
The public is also invited to support the SSPCA’s Christmas Charity Bazaar at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) New Wing on December 8 from 10am to 2pm. —DayakDaily
