Organising committee chairperson Hellen Anbi said she was delighted by the overwhelming response, noting that the initial target of 20 teams had to be increased to 30 because of high demand, as the tournament attracted bowling enthusiasts not only from Bintulu but also from Miri, Sibu, and Kuching.

In addition, PDP Central Women’s Wing chief Wendy Earnest Sadan emphasised that sports activities not only provide health and recreational benefits but can also serve as an effective medium for strengthening ties, building friendships and creating networks between PDP members and the wider community.

The programme was officiated by Steven Kong Kai Seng, Special Officer to Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, who is the federal Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bintulu, assemblyman for Dudong, and president of PDP.

One of the symbolic events held during the programme was the submission of new membership forms, reflecting the programme’s openness in reaching out to the community through activities that are casual, healthy, and inclusive.

“The participation and submission of new membership forms also demonstrated that community and sports activities can serve as platforms for building new relationships and networks with the public

“It also formed part of the development of PDP’s organisational activities in the Bintulu area under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition,” said the post.

Meanwhile, the tournament saw Tangas emerging as the champion, securing the team a cash prize of RM1,000, followed by Just Bowl in as the runnier-up with RM800 cash prize, Alpha (third place, RM600 cash prize), Tangerine (fourth place, RM250 cash prize), and Klang Kluz Bowlers (fifth place, RM250 cash prize).

All winning teams also received a trophy and certificate each.

The post also thanked Tiong, Kong, Wendy, and all leaders, members of the PDP Central Women’s Exco, Bintulu Women Entrepreneurs Club, sponsors, organising committee members, participants, and all parties who provided their support and cooperation.

“The programme not only promoted sportsmanship and healthy competition, but also served as a platform to strengthen ties, expand friendship networks and connect PDP members with the wider community.

“The organisers hope that programmes of this nature can be continued and expanded in the future, with wider participation from communities throughout Sarawak,” said the post. — DayakDaily
