KUCHING, March 8: Yayasan Petronas, via its Uplifting Lives initiative, has contributed over 1,000 aid packages to families displaced by floods that hit Johor and Sarawak recently.
The items, comprising hygiene kits, dry food items, blankets and drinking water, were distributed together with Welfare Department between March 6 and 8 to 900 families in Kota Tinggi, Kluang, Batu Pahat, Tangkak, Segamat and Muar of Johor as well as to 200 families in Sarikei and Sri Aman of Sarawak.
Yayasan Petronas chief executive officer (CEO) Shariah Nelly Francis said they will continue to extend help and care to communities that have been severely affected by the recent floods.
“We cannot imagine the challenges that communities and families are going through amid such difficult times. Our hope is that this aid can lift the spirits of fellow Malaysians,” she said in a media release today.
Earlier in December 2022, Yayasan Petronas contributed 5,000 aid packages to families affected by the flood in Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan and Sabah.
A further 700 aid packages were distributed in February this year to flood victims residing in Johor and Sabah.
