MIRI, Nov 8: Yayasan Petronas have stepped forward to contribute medical equipment to the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri District’s new dialysis centre in Permyjaya today.

Yayasan Petronas donated 12 hemodialysis (hemo) machines, one rinser machine, and two dialyzer reprocessing machines worth RM624,000.

During the presentation ceremony, Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin who is also the incumbent for Senadin thanked Yayasan Petronas for the concern shown towards the well-being of the community.

“That is the beauty of Miri; we have caring corporate citizens,” he said, adding that the community’s strong support helped (the centre) to provide first-class facilities and services that are on par with private hospitals.

Sitting on a three-acre piece of land in Permyjaya which was donated by the Sarawak government, the MRC Miri District’s new dialysis centre began construction in 2019 and was completed this year.

Once it is fully operational, it will be able to accommodate about 240 patients.

Currently, the equipment is being commissioned in stages and once completed, it will await final inspection and approval from the Private Medical Practice Control Section (CKAPS) before the centre can obtain its license.

Also present at the event were Petronas Sarawak general manager Zulaihi Mantali, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd Sarawak Asset senior general manager Ruslan Abdul Ghani, and Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd manager of stakeholder management and administration Suryani Dohan. — DayakDaily
