KUCHING, May 16: Xiamen Airlines, one of China’s leading carriers, has commenced direct flights between Chongqing and Kuala Lumpur, with its inaugural flight successfully landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) yesterday (May 15).
Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said that the inaugural flight signifies the first-ever direct route connecting these two vibrant cities.
“Before this, there were no direct flights from Chongqing to Malaysia.
“With the introduction of this new air route, there will be four flights per week, amounting to 25 flights in total,” he said in a statement posted on his official Facebook page today.
Expressing his excitement, Tiong anticipates the potential addition of more direct flights and charter services from various provinces and cities in China to Malaysia.
This development opens doors for greater tourism collaboration and represents a promising opportunity to boost the country’s tourism industry and overall economy.
In light of this positive development, Tiong reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to working closely with Chinese airlines and other industry players.
He said their collaborative efforts aim to persuade more Chinese tourists to visit Malaysia, thereby actively contributing to the growth and stability of the nation’s tourism industry and economy. — DayakDaily
