KUCHING, Nov 10: The dilapidated section of road at Lorong 5, Kampung Sungai Tapang here has been filled with quarry stones and resurfaced with bitumen.

Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) chief Wilfred Yap highlighted that the need to repair the road section had been immediately communicated to and undertaken by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) after it received complaints from residents.

“Recently, the residents of Kampung Sungai Tapang had complained about the dilapidated condition of a certain section of Lorong 5 prone to flash flooding.

“The road is frequently used by the residents to send their children to St Alban Primary School and when they go to church for Sunday worship,” he explained in a statement today.

The residents, he added, have also raised other complaints on the need to upgrade and improve roads in their village.

Yap, who is also the SUPP Kota Sentosa chairman, highlighted the matter to MPP as well as the need for more funding to carry out improvement and upgrading works requested by the villagers.

He also appealed to the current Stampin MP and Kota Sentosa assemblyman Chong Chieng Jen for assistance to apply for and secure development funds from both the Sarawak and federal government for infrastructure improvement and upgrading so as to benefit the communities of Kota Sentosa which is also within the Stampin Parliamentary constituency.

Yap reiterated that SUPP PCB is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone facing problems or who come across problems of public interest but do not know how to deal with it.

Anyone requiring assistance may contact SUPP PCB at 016-7797688 or 082-246999 or go directly to the SUPP Head Office here to request for assistance. — DayakDaily
