KUCHING, Jan 9: The Works Ministry’s (KKR) mantra for 2026—‘Act Immediately—is not just mere lip service or something that looks good on a poster, but a promise to reduce delays, accelerate decision-making, and ensure that implementation truly reaches the grassroots.
In a Facebook post, KKR minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, said that the public expectations of the ministry remain high amid growing challenges and rapid changes.
“As we step into 2026, one thing I want to stress to everyone in the Ministry of Works (KKR) is this—we can no longer operate in the old ways in a world that is moving at breakneck speed.
“In a recent address, the prime minister reminded us that technical ministries such as KKR must move faster and act without unnecessary delays, particularly in the implementation of infrastructure projects.
“That is why I want this year to be the year KKR, and all its agencies, act faster, more boldly and with greater responsibility,” he said.
Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, also set the following reminders for those under his ministry:
Infrastructure projects must not be delayed without strong justification.
Every role, whether in the office or on project sites, has a direct impact on the people.
Integrity, accountability, and follow-through are not options, but necessities.
“I deeply appreciate the commitment and achievements of KKR personnel throughout 2025. There is much we can be proud of, but we also recognise that many responsibilities entrusted to us by the people are still awaiting fulfilment,” he said.
He added that the launch of the KKR Organisational Strategic Plan 2026–2030 serves as a compass for the next five years to ensure that what the ministry builds is more structured, impactful, and truly beneficial.
“We no longer want to remain stuck in the old ways, but this effort cannot be carried out by one individual alone. No one is Superman.
“Malaysia can only become a great nation if we all move forward together—and the time is now,” he said. — DayakDaily
