“Tomorrow, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will visit Kapit to review the area’s development plans,” he said during the Minor Rural Project (MRP) cheques and student incentives 2024 presentation ceremony for Katibas, held at the Song Community Hall today.

Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, highlighted the government’s focus on socio-economic growth through the Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA).

He urged the public to remain patient as project applications must follow proper procedures.

“For accurate updates, residents can contact the service centre,” he added.

During the ceremony, 76 village development and security committees (JKKKs) and associations received cheques amounting to RM427,500.

Nanta highlighted that these contributions would enhance the quality of life in the longhouses involved.

In addition, 74 students were awarded educational incentives for gaining entry into public and private universities, and 18 community leaders were presented with new appointment certificates.

Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan also handed over RM369,000 to 57 beneficiaries, including longhouse JKKKs and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Also in attendance were Song District officer Harry Bruce Edwin, Nanta’s political secretary Ambrose Abong Bugek, as well as political secretaries to Sarawak Premier Wilson Awan and Maurice Garry. — DayakDaily
