Works minister lauds Kuching City FC’s brave fight despite slim loss to Johor Darul Ta’zim

KUCHING, Aug 25: Kuching City FC may have suffered a 0-1 defeat to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) at Sarawak Stadium here last night, but Works Minister and Kapit MP Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the team’s fighting spirit, especially while playing nearly the entire second half with 10 men, was a proud display against Malaysia’s best.

Nanta, who was among over 12,000 fans in the stands, described the atmosphere as electrifying and the performance as courageous.

“The fighting spirit shown, despite having to play almost the entire second half with 10 men, was truly commendable, especially when going up against one of the best teams in Malaysia,” he said in a Facebook post earlier today.

He added that the match was also an opportunity to meet fellow leaders including Sarawak Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Sarawak Football Association (FAS) president Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.

“Last night’s match was Kuching City FC’s second in the Malaysia Super League, following their big 4-0 victory over Kelantan in the opening match of the 2025/2026 season,” Nanta said. — DayakDaily
