KUCHING, Feb 21: Site clearing works for the construction of a house for Tchee Foh Hin — father of Kian Jong, who was killed in the CityOne Megamall tragic explosion — started three days ago and is progressing well.

Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong said she and Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Tiong Ling Hii visited the site at Lorong 10A in Stampin Resettlement Scheme yesterday.

“I am happy with the progress so far, as informed by Tuan Tiong,” she told a press conference at DAP headquarters here today.

“The Bomba personnel are really working hard on this project. Even though their main job is to fight fire and perform rescue work, many of them are actually good builders as well,” she commended.

Yong added that the project, which was a joint collaboration between the state government, federal government, Bomba, DAP and philanthropists, would take two months to complete, weather permitting.

It will be a reinforced concrete stilt house, under Bomba’s Rumah Sejahteraku Programme or previously known as NBOS House Build programme, that comes with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room area, a kitchen and a car porch.

“I will monitor the progress of this project from time to time with Bomba so that it can be completed within the time frame,” she assured. — DayakDaily
