KUCHING, Nov 2: Works Minister Dato Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has suggested the introduction of a Smart Road Infrastructure Sandbox programme.

This programme would serve as a platform for government agencies and industry players to share innovative ideas related to new technologies for road infrastructure.

The ideas submitted will be tested in selected locations across the country, and those yielding the best results will be refined for use in road maintenance, infrastructure development, and construction projects.

“I was made to understand that such a pilot programme has been implemented by PLUS Malaysia Berhad for the Smart Highway Sandbox programme.

“I believe it is time the Works Ministry introduced the Smart Road Infrastructure Sandbox to benefit the 33.4 million Malaysians who use the country’s road infrastructure,” he said.

Nanta said the innovation initiatives resulting from his expertise and existing knowledge at KKR and agencies can be highlighted to test their effectiveness.

He added that the proposal will be discussed at the ministry level to detail its implementation in addition to inviting all relevant parties to participate and contribute their ideas and innovations. — DayakDaily
