SIBU, Jan 24: Businesses in Sibu in particular essential services are required to apply for police permit for work related travel during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

According to a statement from the Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, the committee has decided that the current practice for employers to issue letters for their employees to go to work will be discontinued with effect from January 27.

It added the management of essential services are allowed to operate at 30 per cent capacity during the MCO period.

Those businesses will now be required to apply for a police permit for work related travel on behalf of their employees at any police station in Sibu Division.

The objective of this requirement is to ensure compliance with standard operating procedure (SOP) and to assist the police in enforcing the MCO.
