SIBU, April 13: A housewife thought she got a good deal for four Rolex watches but instead ended up losing over half a million ringgit to a scammer.
Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said that the 60-year-old victim, came into contact with the purported seller in early February.
He said the suspect offered to sell the watches for a total price of RM526,400.
“She was attracted by the deal and made nine payment transactions to one bank account starting from February 15 to 27,” he said.
Zulkipli said that the woman suspected that she had been defrauded when the seller did not contact her and she did not receive the watches as promised.
“The case is being investigated by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division, District Police Headquarters (IPD) under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating,” he added. — DayakDaily
