SIMUNJAN, Oct 2: A 56-year-old woman lost her life, while her 37-year-old son, the driver of the vehicle, sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in collided with a van parked by the roadside along Jalan Gedong-Simunjan today.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Simunjan responded to the emergency at 3.01pm and a team of six firefighters were despatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the woman trapped in the front passenger seat of the Proton Saga, while her son had already been assisted out of the vehicle.
Firefighters immediately worked to extricate the woman from the wreckage, but she was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Ministry of Health.
Her remains were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.
Firefighters also carried out flushing to clear debris from the road before concluding their operation at 4.07pm. — DayakDaily
