Woman escapes with shoulder injury after car plunges into ravine in Bau

BAU, Sept 8: A 43-year-old woman sustained a shoulder injury but was fortunate to survive after her car plunged into a ravine along Jalan Krokong, Kampung Belimbin here this morning.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received a distress call regarding the incident at 9.20am and promptly dispatched a team from the Bau Fire Station.

When the operation commander PBK I Nelson Phang Siaw Ming and his team arrived at 9.28am, they discovered that the Perodua Bezza had indeed fallen into a ravine.

However, the victim had already been pulled out by members of the public before rescuers arrived.

Firemen then assisted in bringing the victim up from the ravine and provided initial treatment at the scene before she was transported to Bau Hospital for further medical care using the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle.

The operation, which involved five firefighters, one FRT and one EMRS unit, concluded at 9.37am once the situation was confirmed safe. — DayakDaily
