KUCHING, Sept 21: A woman dies, while her husband sustains serious injuries after their motorcycle was hit by a car at Kilometre 63 of Jalan Kuching-Sri Aman early this morning.
Serian District Police Chief DSP Aswandy Anis said the victim, 58 and her husband, 72 was riding a motorcycle around 6.45am.
It is believed that they were hit by a car which caused both of them to be thrown off from the motorcycle.
“Preliminary investigations found that the motorcycle ridden by the husband and wife was thrown over to the opposite lane.
“The motorcycle was hit by a car driven by a 31-year-old man,” said Aswandy in a statement today.
The husband suffers head injuries and serious injuries to his hands following the accident.
“The wife suffered severe injuries to her neck and hands, and was confirmed dead by the medical team from the Serian Hospital,” he said.
Both victims were sent to Serian Hospital for further action while the driver of the car was reported to be unhurt.
Further investigation of the case is still underway under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
