SIBU, Apr 23: A woman and her son have been arrested for defying the Movement control order and voluntarily obstructing policemen from discharging their duty.
Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said at about 10.35. am today, two policemen in an MPV on MCO enforcement duty stopped a car at Jalan Lanang.
Inside the car were a 45-year-old woman driver and her 18-year-old son. Both were from Jalan Tiong Hua.
“When they were asked where they were going, the woman said they wanted to go to the market to buy vegetables,” said Stanley.
The woman was told by the police that since she could drive there was no need for two persons to go do the marketing.
The policeman also told the woman that he had to issue a ticket to her for having fancy car plates on the front and back of the car.
“The woman suddenly in a fit of anger shouted at the policeman who issued the summon,” he added.
The woman, when asked to acknowledge receipt of the summon, tore it up at the Lanang police station.
Stanley said the case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code and Regulation 3(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.—DayakDaily
