KUCHING, Aug 16: A woman, 23, is believed to have succumbed to injuries received during a road collision at Jalan Bintang, Miri on Aug 14 at 9.10pm.
According to State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief Supt Alexson Naga, the deceased was riding pillion on a motorcycle when their vehicle collided with a car. The impact caused the deceased to fall into a drain beside the road and suffer injuries to her chin.
The car driver urged the deceased and the motorcyclist to check for injuries and report the case the next day before sending them home.
However, the deceased later suffered from breathing difficulties while resting and an ambulance was called out at 10.45pm. The deceased was pronounced dead by a medical officer.
It was suspected that the deceased passed away due to injuries from the road collision as there were no visible injuries on her body. The deceased’s family later decided to report the case for further investigation.
The cause of death for the deceased was identified as due to abdominal injury and the case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
