Winning photos, videos from Sukma Sarawak 2024 Contest to be featured in coffee table book

KUCHING, Sept 27: The winning photos and videos from the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024 Sarawak Photography and Videography Contest will be showcased in a special Sukma XXI Sarawak 2024 coffee table book.

Sukma 2024 Chief Executive Officer Datu Hii Chang Kee announced that the Sukma secretariat will publish a coffee table book soon, featuring this memorable collection of photos along with creative write-ups.

“It will likely be released in conjunction with the Sukma 2024 appreciation dinner,” he mentioned during a press conference at the Baitulmakmur Building 2 today.

The photography contest received a total of 1,078 entries across both the youth and open categories, while the videography competition attracted 59 submissions.

Hii added that the impressive number of submissions indicates that such competitions should be organised more frequently alongside major tournaments and events.

“Through this competition, we aim not only to gather interesting photos and videos but also to provide opportunities to discover and nurture new talents in photography and videography,” he added.

In the open photography category, Ahmad Izzrafiq Alias’s photo won him the first prize of RM3,000, while Mohmad Nahari Naha, a photographer for Utusan Sarawak, took second place with a prize of RM2,000. Juna Medan secured third place, winning RM1,000.

Five others, namely Ahmad Alfian Hashim, Ghazali Bujang, Liew Kwong Yew, Muhammad Mikail Ong Abdullah, and Kho Chee Hui, each received a consolation prize of RM200.

In the youth photography category, Muhamad Haziq Aqil Abdul Halim’s video won the top prize of RM2,000. Gregory Tang Wei’s entry earned him RM1,000 for second place, while Azizan Yakub walked away with RM750 for third place.

Consolation prizes of RM100 each were awarded to Alexander Brian Nyawai Ngian, Haikal Nazhan Hamdan, Theodore Lee Soon Hur, Muhamad Nur Iqwan Bolhan, and Muhammad Aziem Danish.

In the videography category, Wong Sin Hee won the first place, bringing home a cash prize of RM2,000 while Yunus Yussop walked away with RM1,000 in second place and Mohammad Faisal Ahmad with RM750 in third.

Consolation prizes of RM100 each were also awarded to Abdul Majid Azman, Abdul Wafi Nasip, Ain Farzana Ramli, Ismail Roslan and Muhammad Asyraf Abd Halim. — DayakDaily
