KUCHING, Jan 26: Weather model analyses indicate that wind convergence is expected to affect Sarawak from January 29 to January 31, potentially triggering prolonged periods of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in parts of the state.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the weather pattern could lead to unstable conditions, with thunderstorms and heavy rain occurring over affected areas during the period.
Earlier, MetMalaysia issued a thunderstorm warning for several locations in Sarawak, including Kuching, Samarahan and Mukah.
In an advisory released at 8.45am today, the department said heavy rain and thunderstorms were expected to affect Kuching, Samarahan and Mukah districts, specifically Matu, Dalat and Mukah, until 12 noon.
The public is advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, particularly in areas prone to flash flooding and hazardous weather conditions.
MetMalaysia also encouraged the public to stay updated by referring to its official website at www.met.gov.my, its official social media channels, or by downloading the myCuaca application for the latest and verified weather information. — DayakDaily
