Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Bonnie Bunyau among 5 honoured with Diamond Jubilee Excellence Commemorative Medal

KUCHING, July 4: Federal Deputy Minister of Digital and Hulu Rajang MP, Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, and national para powerlifter, Bonnie Bunyau Gustin, were among five recipients honoured with the ‘Pingat Peringatan Cemerlang Jubli (Emas)’ or the Diamond Jubilee Excellence Commemorative Medal (Gold).

Tan Sri Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali, Chief Secretary to the federal government, led the list of gold medal recipients, which also included Ugak, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, Bonnie Bunyau, and Leonard Chang Kui Peng.

Meanwhile, the remaining 184 individuals were awarded the ‘Pingat Peringatan Bakti Jubli Intan (Perak)’ or the Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Medal (Silver), including Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan’s wife, Dato Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud, Deputy Sarawak Secretary Datu Hii Chang Kee, Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata, and Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute (Tropi) director Datu Dr Lulie Melling.

A total of 189 individuals were awarded with the Diamond Jubilee Commemorative medals in conjunction with the celebration of 2023 Sarawak’s 60th independence, during a ceremony held today at the New Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building here.

The medals were presented to the recipients at the ceremony by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries and officials, including Abang Johari’s wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, Awang Tengah, and Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki. — DayakDaily
