SERIAN, Oct 27: Puncak Borneo incumbent Datuk Willie Mongin is putting the matter of his candidacy for the seat on the back burner for the time being.

Instead, he pointed out that as the caretaker Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, he will continue carrying out his duty to serve the people and ensure that the welfare of the people is well taken care of.

“About my candidacy (for Puncak Borneo), whatever decision will come later on, we will see the outcome.

“It is premature to say anything (related to my candidacy) because it is my duty to stay guided and wait for the party leadership to decide,” Willie told reporters today at a handover of donations to three destitute families in three villages in the constituency.

The donation was from Sarawak Furniture Industry Association (SFIA) and Willie’s Puncak Borneo service centre as part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Willie added that he has joined Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and is already part of the party.

Willie was admitted to the party in August this year and believed that the party has its own intelligence and own people to gauge his performance on the ground.

He pointed out that he will accept the challenge to win the seat for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) if given the opportunity.

“I have already joined PBB and part of the party and if they put me there (in Puncak Borneo), I will work hard and make sure that I deliver the seat,” Willie stressed. — DayakDaily
