KUCHING, April 19: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim revealed that Sarawak is increasingly being recognised by foreign nations as a rising energy hub in the ASEAN region, highlighting the State’s growing global reputation during his official visits abroad.

“Wherever I go—be it Europe, China, Japan or especially in ASEAN—Sarawak is consistently seen as having huge potential as the energy hub of the region.

“It is becoming our centre,” he said when speaking at the Aidilfitri Madani 2025 celebration at the Indoor Stadium in Petra Jaya today.

Anwar also acknowledged the unique role Sarawak plays within the federation, noting that while various states have made notable progress, Sarawak leads in State-funded infrastructure development.

“After receiving the State’s briefing earlier, I can say that among all states, Sarawak provides the largest allocation from its own funds to develop infrastructure—bridges, highways and water supply.

“This is the result of a stable political system and leaders with vision and determination—leaders who embrace new ideas, seek out fresh experiences, and cultivate talent and capabilities. For that, I extend my sincere thanks and deep appreciation to my friend, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he uttered. – DayakDaily
