Wet and dry markets in Sibu Jaya to be closed from April 24 to 26

SIBU, April 23:  The wet and dry markets in Sibu Jaya will be closed for three days from April 24 to 26 after a public health staff was diagnosed with Covid-19 today.

Sibu Rural District Council chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said today that the decision was made during its emergency meeting on the new standard operating procedures (SOP) imposed in Sibu Division.

“After deliberation, it was resolved unanimously that the wet and dry markets in Sibu Jaya will be closed for three days for the purpose of conducting sanitisation,” he said.

Sempurai said the dry and wet markets of Selangau will open tomorrow.

The council, he said had also decided on the new operating hours of markets in Sibu Jaya and Selangau which is now from 6am to 12noon.

“Pasar Tamu, Medan Gerai Buah and Night Market in Sibu Jaya still remain closed,” he said. — DayakDaily
