KUCHING, Sep 14: Establishing the Child Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI) Youth Council as an intermediary for children aged below 19 is one of the key takeaways Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah received from her recent visit to Finland.
In a statement today, she said setting up the CFCI Youth Council has proven to be helpful in fulfilling the CFCI requirements together with solid support from the local municipality and the government.
“This is not only able to achieve the CFCI’s dream of listening to the voices of every age group, it can also fulfill the needs of creating and building infrastructure and facilities that can be used by all walks of life,” she said.
As a continuation to the CFCI conference in Madrid, Fatimah and other Sarawak delegates visited Fuenlabrada in Madrid as well as three other cities namely Helsinki, Hämeenlinna and Vantaa in Finland.
The visit was impactful and provided useful input for delegates under five local municipals in Sarawak that have signed up for CFCI, namely Kuching South City Council (MBKS), Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), Miri City Council (MCC) and Sibu Municipal Council (SMC). — DayakDaily
