MIRI, Jan 3: The Sarawak Welfare Department today provided financial assistance to fire and landslide victims in the Senadin area to support them in the rebuilding of their homes.
In a news report by TVS, Senadin assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said the aid aims to ease the victims’ burden and help them procure essential building materials.
“Cheques were presented to the victims for rebuilding their homes. This initiative is part of the Sarawak government’s efforts through the Welfare Department,” he said during a press conference at Tudan Desaras, Miri.
Lee, who is also Minister of Transport, explained that the assistance amount varies based on the extent of the damage.
“Some families received up to RM10,000, while the minimum amount is around RM3,000.
“The assessment considers the extent of the damage, whether the house was completely destroyed or partially affected,” he explained.
The visit today included four locations previously impacted by fires, where three houses were destroyed, and one suffered structural collapse. — DayakDaily
