KUCHING, Dec 2: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad all this while knew the position and needs of Sarawakians as he has led the country before.
Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing said in Mahathir 1.0, he was the prime minister for 22 years plus 7 years as a federal minister holding various portfolios.
“In all, he was in a position of power for 29 out of the 55 years since Malaysia was formed,” said Masing in a statement today.
“Please do not tell me he was not aware of Sarawak’s position and needs in all these years.”
Masing, who is also Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president, said this when commenting on Dr Mahathir’s speech at the launching of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sarawak in Bintulu last night. In his speech, Dr Mahathir gave the impression that he did not know much about Sarawak’s position and needs.
Masing opined that Dr Mahathir was not interested in Sarawak then and is still not interested in Sarawak’s needs now.
“It is just a political ploy by a Malayan-based party to take control of Sarawak’s oil and gas for good. Do not get tricked for the second time,” said Masing. — DayakDaily
