KUCHING, Aug 3: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said his recent meeting with the Council of Eminent Persons chairman, Tun Daim Zainuddin, only discussed non-political matters.
“We just talk about economy. He was quite impressed with our economy and development in Kuching,” he told reporters when asked what transpired during his meeting with Daim, here, yesterday.
Earlier, the chief minister officiated at the “Get Together with the Sikh Community and Vaisakhi 2019” at the Sikh Temple Kuching at Jalan Masjid here.
Asked if their discussion touched on politics, Abang Johari outright answered: “No.”
The meeting sparked a flurry of speculation, as it came right after reports that some Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) lawmakers together with other opposition members met with the Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Tuesday (July 27).
Rumours have been circulating that GPS went to meet Dr Mahathir to affirm their support to the prime minister, while being a friendly opposition. — DayakDaily
