KUCHING, Nov 27: The Zone 1 Reticulation System Rural Water Supply Project costing RM4.16 million which also covers Kampung Sibu Laut is a sigh of relief to villages who have relied only on catchment water for their daily needs.

Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi highlighted this during the launching of water supply to Kampung Sungai Aur yesterday.

“The reticulation system project will involve the construction of new pipelines, submarine pipelines to Kampung Sibu Laut and Kampung Sungai Aur, as well as the Inline Booster Pump Station,” he said in a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).

He also informed that the Sarawak government will bear the cost of water meter installation, costing about RM9,400, for 41 houses in both Kampung Sibu Laut and Kampung Sungai Aur.

In the event, Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Pantai Damai incumbent, officiated the first phase of the concrete village road to Kampung Sungai Aur.

The 270-metre road costing RM150,000 was completed under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the Pantai Damai constituency. — DayakDaily
