KUCHING, Jan 30: The Sessions Court here today issued a warrant of arrest against a 22-year-old man when he failed to appear for the mention of his raping a minor case.
Sessions Court judge Marutin Pagan issued the warrant of arrest after accused Nur Syukeri Superdi’s sole surety, who is his sister, told the court she had no idea whether the accused was.
Marutin than fixed March 4 for further mention and told the surety to ensure the presence of the accused; otherwise, the bail sum of RM10,000 will be forfeited and bail revoked.
Nur Syukeri was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code for allegedly raping his girlfriend, who was 13-years-old then, at a unit at Taman Sri Makmur at about 12.30pm on Sept 24, 2017.
Section 376(1) provides for a maximum 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping.
DPP Nor Azahari Yusof prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented. — DayakDaily
