KUCHING, Feb 18: Proposed anti-hopping laws and limiting the prime minister’s term will be tabled in March, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

According to the de facto law minister in a Facebook posting on Wednesday (Feb 16), the Steering Committee for the Bill (RUU) on the party’s anti-hopping and Prime Minister’s term limit will hold a meeting with key party leaders in near future before it is tabled in Parliament.

“The meeting is to discuss the answers to the questions posed by Attorney General (AG) on the policies of the Bill.

“Nearly 20 questions are listed and there are still some that remain unanswered. This is because we need to take into account the input from every Member of Parliament who has various views and thoughts,” he said.

Wan Junaidi pointed out that this was not an easy thing to do and every point of view and suggestion needed to be taken into account.

He said as long as there are contradictions, there will be no consensus on the policy itself.

He explained due to that, a meeting with all party leaders who have a position to make a decision with the Steering Committee for this bill is necessary and is in the process of setting a meeting date to make a decision on behalf of their respective parties. — DayakDaily
