KUCHING, June 29: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail believes that reports of Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng belittling Sarawak were just assumptions.
She declined to elaborate her answers, but she told reporters to ask Guan Eng himself, especially on what he said on June 21 during DAP’s ‘Sarawak Here We Come’ fund-raising dinner, where he said Sarawak would go bankrupt in three years under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government.
“I do not know. I have to see first. Ask him (Guan Eng) lah. It’s just an assumption,” Dr Wan Azizah told reporters after she was asked if what Guan Eng said would sour state-federal ties.
Earlier, she said she had paid a courtesy call on Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud in the morning and had a very cordial chat with him on matters pertaining to improving relations between the state and federal governments.
“We had a lovely chat. I was given an audience with the Governor of Sarawak and Toh Puan Ragad Kurdi-Taib.
“I can either communicate with him (Tun Taib) directly or with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg,” said Wan Azizah. — DayakDaily
